چکیده

In recent papers [10, 11] Krister Segerberg introduced Irrevocable Belief Revision, as closely related to AGM revision [2]. In this paper we present irrevocable belief revision in terms of an epistemic entrenchment relation.1

Three Scenarios for the Revision of Epistemic States

This position paper discusses the difficulty of interpreting iterated belief revision in the scope of the existing literature. Axioms of iterated belief revision are often presented as extensions of the AGM axioms, upon receiving a sequence of inputs. More recent inputs are assumed to have priority over less recent ones. We argue that this view of iterated revision is at odds with the claim, ma...

On the epistemic entrenchment of different types of knowledge expressed as conditionals in belief revision tasks Renée Elio Abstract Some belief revision theories appeal to the notion of epistemic entrenchment as a guide to choosing among alternative ways of removing inconsistency that new information may cause with existing beliefs. While belief revision theorists may not be interested in natu...

ENTRENCHMENT KINEMATICS 101 yAbhaya

The AGM framework of belief dynamics fails to account for iterated belief change. This paper extends the AGM framework in order to solve this problem. As in the AGM, an epistemic input is represented as a single sentence. Unlike the AGM, however , a belief state is represented as an epistemic entrenchment relation. Three state transition functions { namely, entrenchment expansion, entrenchment ...

Basic Entrenchment

In contrast to other prominent models of belief change models based on epistemic entrenchment have up to now been applicable only in the context of very strong packages of requirements for belief revision This paper decomposes the axiomatization of entrenchment into independent modules Among other things it is shown how belief revision satisfying only the basic postulates of Alchourr on G arden...
